ŠKODA UK and its retailers are celebrating a record 2013. With 5,641 vehicle registrations during October, it takes the year-to-date (YTD) total to 55,217 – and passes last year’s benchmark of 53,200.

Milton Keynes, 6th November 2013 – ŠKODA UK’s growth is also outperforming the UK automotive market. Bouncing back after the recession of 2008, the market has expanded by 10% YTD, but the Czech company is up 19%.

Furthermore, ŠKODA UK’s market share is up in October at 3.6% – and 2.8% YTD. The brand’s previous best, in 2012, was 2.6% YTD.

Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director for ŠKODA UK, was thrilled with the news and commented: “With our fresh new design language and expanded model line-up, ŠKODA cars are delivering exactly what our customers want – high quality and reliable motoring at value-for-money prices.”

October’s new car registrations figure of 5,641 is almost 900 units higher than the same month last year. Fleet customers choosing desirable models such as the ŠKODA Superb, new Octavia and Rapid played their part, with corporate registrations up from 1,716 last October to 2,400 this October.

Following on from the successful launch of the Rapid, and ahead of the January showroom debut for the Rapid Spaceback, ŠKODA has revealed pricing and specification of the fuel-sipping GreenLine versions of both cars.

Milton Keynes, 4th November 2013 - Each is powered by ŠKODA’s proven 1.6-litre TDI CR 90PS DPF diesel engine linked to a five-speed manual transmission. The result is emissions of just 99g/km and an official combined cycle fuel economy of 74.3mpg†.

With BIK values of just 14% the pair are expected to prove especially popular with fleet and corporate customers. Running costs are further reduced because each is in VED Band A.

As with all ŠKODA GreenLine models, specification is exceptionally generous. Both cars come with 15-inch ‘Carme’ alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres, front fog lights and sunset glass. Inside there is a height-adjustable driver’s seat, air-conditioning and a MAXI DOT trip computer.

These desirable comfort and convenience features are in addition to the standard equipment which is on all Rapid and Rapid Spaceback cars. That includes heated door mirrors, height-adjustable head rests and a reach-and-rake adjustable steering wheel.

The ŠKODA Rapid GreenLine is priced at £17,535 on the road, while the Rapid Spaceback GreenLine is £17,195. The duo are available to order now, with first customer deliveries expected in early 2014.

The ŠKODA Rapid is the seventh car in the brand’s award-winning range, and was the first car to be envisioned and created with ŠKODA’s new design language when it was launched last year. At 4.48 metres long, the compact family hatchback provides outstanding space for five passengers and their luggage.

The ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback broadens the Rapid’s appeal in the compact family hatchback segment. With its class-leading 415-litre boot, it sets new sector standards for interior space and is available with a number of personalisation options that allow buyers to tailor the car to their own tastes. All versions, including the GreenLine model, will arrive in showrooms in January 2014.

Motorist Jamie Hyde has become the first customer in the UK to travel 100,000 miles in the award-winning ŠKODA Yeti crossover.

Milton Keynes, 22nd October 2013 – Not only was the feat achieved in just two years, but the Yeti also maintained an impressive 100% reliability record.

Based in Merseyside, Mr Hyde, a Sales Manager, visits customers up and down the country, and regularly completes long distances to reach clients across the UK. Destinations span from the remote County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland to the bustling city streets of Birmingham, London and Manchester.

The journey across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom during the past 24 months, which culminated in a routine service at Mitchell ŠKODA in Chester, is the equivalent to traveling nearly half way to the moon or driving around the entire coastline of the British Isles nine times.

Jamie Hyde comments: “The ŠKODA Yeti has been a consistently reliable and trustworthy companion wherever I have needed to travel. In order to maintain our high level of customer service and punctuality, we are dependent on the trouble-free and low-cost motoring which the Yeti has always delivered. It has never let me down and I look forward to another 100,000 enjoyable miles.”

Owen Shepherd, Head of Aftersales for ŠKODA UK adds: “The Yeti is a vehicle which performs day in day out, no matter how hard the task. It strikes the perfect balance between on-road performance, practicality and highly capable off-roading.

“The ŠKODA Yeti remains one of the UK’s most popular crossovers and was recently named the country’s most satisfying car to own in the 2013 Auto Express Driver Power customer satisfaction survey.”
